Wyclef Jean sure thinks so. If you all haven’t heard of the fuckery that is WJ running for President of Haiti then you need to go back under your rock. Since the Fugee’s alum has decided to live in New Joizy for the last 5 years and not Port-au-Prince, the Haitian Government has stamped “NO!” on his hand and asked him to stand back at the end of the line.

After an electoral commission excluded him from a final candidate list on August 20th, he urged his followers to respect the committees decision as he has done. Well the Pied Piper quickly changed his tune by Sunday saying he will promise to file an appeal. He twatted (yes.) ”Tomorrow our Lawyers are appealing the decision of the CEP. We have met all the requirements set by the laws. And the law must be Respected.” Oy vey….

Even though he has no political experience and no clear platform for the presidency, the young, unemployed youth of Haiti are butt hurt for him, graffiti-ing the need for him to rule their land all over the walls of Port-au-Prince. It appears that Jean’s greatest issue would be a challenge to his residency. The Constitution requires that candidates live in Haiti for five consecutive years before running for President. Wyclef Blue Jean argued that his position as roving ambassador of Haiti in 2007 has prohibited him from abiding by that law. He owns homes in Haiti and the United States, and also spends time traveling on “music” tours. Last I checked starring in a Ritz cracker commercial isn’t a music tour.

Those poor people…someone needs to graffiti “Take your unruly Amish beard back to Central Pennsylvania“. With that said, I will leave you with Wyclef Jedidiah Yoder Jean’s voice to sing you into a deep slumber.

Those kids have no choice but to grow up with a good sense of humor and maybe a beard you could keep treasures in. They have fun outings that he films and shares those treats with us. If that happened in my family it would have been endless videos of my brother acting cool on the love seat with a pineapple haircut, my sister’s retainer infused voice, and me playing with dolls or putting my face against the camera. Obviously I am talking about the early 90s…or am I?
